1st place winner Artist Statement; What's most amazing about Weston Lions is that people play there all the time. Morning-day-night, sun-rain-snow. Even if they have to shovel a parcel of white for the green to come back. I admire the youth following their passion to come out to train, and play. And when the soccer ball is not the center of attention, the field becomes a theater for other plays and players from the neighborhood. Green spaces in a dense city are never a waste of land or money.

2nd Place Winner The past and the present collide. TTC Bus Route #89 passes in front of Squibbs, the oldest continuously run bookstore in Toronto since 1927.

Bonnie P

3rd Place Winner A beautiful image taken rather by coincidence, the camera was still set in double exposure and as result this gorgeous artsy and abstract photograph was created, I'd like to think that the blue colors transfer a feeling of winter and ice on a modern building with the focus on the Weston sign.

At first glance it may seem like a sign between houses, but based on what I have heard from Weston - to me it symbolizes the old and the new combined in one neighborhood. The traditional as well as the modern are being present and making Weston what it is - an open, diverse neighborhood.

I've lived in Weston for 31 years and I've always admired the street art. When the 52 Lawrence bus wouldn't stop at Ralph St. (sometimes the bus driver's didn't hear the ding), I would get off at Weston. When I would walk back I would walk under the bridge and always stop and stare at the graffiti. It is the epitome of Weston art. Now, I get off the UP and walk under the same bridge and feel the same way I always did, enamoured with the street art of Weston. Areas change, the need for expression
